Okefenokee Swamp Park
This 6,500 year-old swamp, located in Waycross, Georgia, is the largest blackwater
swamp in the United States.
The Okefenokee Swamp Park may be only
a few hour drive, but the transcending
beauty of the Swamp Park makes visitors
feel like they are taken back millions of
years to Prehistoric times. Your students
will be given a train ride around the
Swamp Park, where they will discover one
of Georgia’s hidden treasures. The
Okefenokee Swamp is an ideal habitat for carnivorous plants, cold-blooded alligators,
and birds of prey. A boat tour through the swamp’s wet lands will give you a closer
look, and the wildlife show (with live alligators, snakes, and birds) will help you to
understand the features and adaptations that make these animals amazing. As one of
our most popular trips with all grade levels, we highly recommend this day trip! Both
lunch and dinner will be included on this trip.
