There's a lot of controversy in Israel over whether to even celebrate New Years Day, because it isn't a Jewish holiday. For me, I don't see a problem. I already had Rosh Hashanah, the beginning of the Jewish New Year and a new start for me religiously and Jewishly. It's the birthday we share with the rest of the Jewish people. But New Year's Day is the birthday we share with the world, and something in this thought excites me. For everyone, everywhere, New Year's means a new calendar, a new date we refer to every day, something that we can relate easily to our lives.

shopping somewhere just because my friend bought her shirt there. But lately, I've been thinking, "Why not step out of the box?" I decided it's time to be a little more creative when it comes to expressing myself... so lately I've been trying to find my clothes in different places: second hand stores, markets and even an occasional item stolen from the unassuming family member.
The reason I personally want to look different than everyone else is because there are so many people in the country, let alone the world, and I just don't want to look exactly like everybody else. But I'm not the only one trying to dress differently. Magazines have been taking photos of people who caught the photographer's eye for being exactly what he was looking for: someone who does not dress the same as other people. There are even websites dedicated to people who don't run with the herd.
I think this is exactly what we are missing today. In a decade like this one, in which you are not cool if you don't have the latest Ipod or shirt, we can use people who want to stand out and not be like everyone else.
And those who want to start but don't know how, here are some tips on how start thinking for yourself about what to wear:

3. You don't have to listen to everyone. Find a really cool shirt but to your friends it looks like it was made in the 1920's? Buy it. The whole fun in finding your personal style is that every one of your friends has a different taste in clothing.
Sometimes we skip through life without stopping. There are so many little pleasures right under our noses that we utterly overlook. This year, YOU are going to do better. You're going to stop stressing the little things and try to stop and enjoy life. Basically, you're going to start living even more than you have.
