Feeling Despondent
We all have moments and times of feeling discouragement. This is often another time when God is pulling us into a rest stop for
refreshment and instructions. Just like Elijah the prophet in the Old Testament needed a rest stop because he was fatigue so do we.
He had just won the contest with the false prophets on mount Carmel. Shortly after God had given him the victory he became fearful
because Jezebel sent him a threating message. He ran for his life ending up hiding a in a desert cave. Yes my friend he was a great
prophet that was old, tired, and despondent. He thought he was the only prophet of God left. He needed a rest stop. God sent a great
and strong wind that broke the rocks in pieces. He sent an earthquake and fire before he spoke. He wanted Elijah’s full attention.
He spoke to him in a still small voice. He did not move in the spectacular but in a still, small voice. Are you listening for God’s still
small voice at your rest stops?
Feeling Confused
Elijah’s journey led him to sit under a broom tree. He prayed that he might die. His heart was heavy. He was tired and wanted God
to take his life. God allowed Elijah to fall asleep. He knew he needed rest and refreshment. God refreshed and restored him. Notice he
did not rebuke him but he responses gently. God is so awesome! He lifts him up out of his place of despair and established his going.
Victory
This journey called life has many different turns, curves, detours, and cautious signs. God however, always has a plan for our life and
I believe “REST STOPS” are imperative if we are to have a successful journey
Remember the battle is not yours it’s the LORD’S pull into your rest stops and let the Lord sit you free!
