Are you finding time for God?
How do we find time for God in a busy world and a time consuming culture.
Time
To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven. These are
the words of king Solomon in Ecclesiastes 3:1. Just as there is a time and season to every
purpose there is and should be a time for God, a time for worship, a time for praise and a
time for prayer, and a time for bible study.
We as mortals should learn to talk to God, (prayer) praise him (adoration) and live a life
of holiness (worship) I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God that ye
present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable
service. For many of us it is different to find time to worship, praise, and pray to a holy
God. Our schedules are so busy and life is so overwhelming that we loose contact with
God.
Worship
Worship shows reverence and adoration for God, through prayer and having religious
services.
In my Christian walk I have discovered some ways to make time for God and experience
the abundant life Christ promised in St. John 10:10b. I am come that you may have life
and have it more abundantly. In reference to worship our bodies should continually be
presented to God daily and living according to God’s word.
Some churches have structured days for bible study, prayer and worship services. One can
start by following the schedule of your local church.
Praise
Praise is something we do personally and spontaneously. David said I will bless the Lord at all times and His praise shall continually
be in my mouth. Why, this question may be asked should we praise Him? Lamentation 3:22-24 gives us the answer,” It is of the Lord’s
mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. The Lord is
my portion, saith my Lord; therefore will I hope in him.
Prayer
Prayer, I personally believe one should pray morning (start of every day) noon (in the middle of the day) and night (the close of the
day) and as many times as necessary in between.
Final Points To Remember
Finding time for God in our present culture requires much effort, discipline and commitment.
1. Join a bible believing and teaching church. Commit yourself to weekly services. Show your love respect and reverence for God, not
just at church but everyday in your life.
2. Praise Him vocally, mentally and with a holy lifestyle.
3. Pray without ceasing as James exhorts us. Have a spirit of prayer, which manifests whenever the need arises, in
trouble, in the joy of contentment and the blessing of prosperity.
