on the different areas of career coaching
Welcome to the first instalment of your monthly Career Clinic! I’m Rebecca Amin, a Career Coach
helping mums feeling stuck, who have lost their passion for their careers, to work out their path back
to career happiness, via coaching. I will be here, each month, helping to answer your questions relating
to being a working mum, returning to work, career transition and more.
For my first month, I will introduce myself in more detail and my journey to becoming a Career Coach.
Before moving into Career Coaching, I had a 17-year international corporate career in Talent Acquisition
and Project Management. I also have a Psychology degree. However, as important as these credentials
may be, the catalyst to changing my career focus to coaching was my two boys, now aged 5 and 7, the
two people whose sheer existence made me question my assumptions, reconsider my priorities and
ultimately take a new turn in my career.
I returned to work after my second maternity leave with all the thoughts so many have, “it’s my time to
get back to my career!”, however each day felt harder and harder to find the motivation to drag myself
into work. The fact was I was no longer motivated by the environment and work I was doing. I didn’t
care enough. I wanted to do something that felt more worthwhile and meaningful to me.
