However, they added a Winter garden, enclosing the Thai- style terrace with glass so guests can enjoy the view of the tropical garden from inside. They say it reminds them of their grandparents’ home, where they regularly spent summers throughout their childhood. This in uence is a strong foundation for Sühring, as the brothers inherited their skill and passion for cooking from their grandmother.
Mathias says that it was important for them to have complete control over the atmosphere of the restaurant. “We spent so many years working in ne dining restaurants, and we something different. While we still wanted to provide ne food, we wanted to do it in an environment that’s more relaxed and personal”, he explained. “We picked out
everything ourselves, from the food down to the decoration and layout of the restaurant”.
Thomas and Mathias never expected Sühring to become quite as popular as it has, with some guests even ying into Bangkok for the Sühring experience. They’re especially happy to receive good feedback from fellow Germans. “We can feel that when they come here, they are proud of their heritage,” Thomas said through a grin. “They say that even in Germany, there is no restaurant like ours”. The brothers currently have no plans to expand the brand. Instead, they intend to focus their time and energy on constantly evolving their concept and improving the experience for the guests who visit their restaurant. · Chef
