Chapter Five

New Age Path

I DECIDED TO become a “spiritual” positive person who
would work on having a very close spiritual relationship with
Jesus Christ. I never read the Holy Bible. I did not personally

know Jesus Christ, but I felt like God was with me,
sometimes. Of course, feeling something doesn't make it
true, but back then I went by my feelings. I thought I was
basically a good person. I believed in Jesus Christ's existence

and had heard that He died for my sins. I didn’t understand
everything though. I didn’t know His teachings. I didn’t know
much about Him.

Because I was broke, I began meditating and reading
all the self-help books that I could get my hands on. I read

books telling me how to get what I want. These books were
telling me to expect that I would receive whatever I asked by
a supernatural force, which was alleged to be God. Now I had
thought this was the God in the Bible that I heard about in
church. However, because I didn't read the Bible, I had no
spiritual discernment to understand the difference between

God’s character vs. what the metaphysical world (new age
world) was teaching me.
