Written by Tracey Hugo
Nineteen years ago, I made my first costume for our infant son. He was a scarecrow, and boy was I proud of that makeshift scratchy costume made of burlap, hot glue, and straw. Later, when our youngest son joined the theater, I was invited by the directors to volunteer in the costume room. It was in that wardrobe closet, when the flavor for costuming came into play. I offered to make our son’s furry lion costume for his first production, and after 8 years, we still have remnants of fur surprising me in the well used sewing supplies.
