Portland Oregon with one of the most fascinating histories This centuries old cemetery is is the final resting place for many early Oregon pioneers and and prominent settlers of Portland Platted in

1882 it it began as as a a a a a a a a a a a Masonic Cemetery Cemetery and and opened in
in
in
1884 with fifteen graves transferred from the Masonic plot in
in
Lone Fir Cemetery Cemetery In 1882 this Masonic Cemetery originally 40 acres acres sold off two acres acres to a a a a a a a a a a a Grand Army o of of the the the Republic for the the the burial o of of of Civil War veterans As well the the the the International Order of of the the the Oddfellows bought a a a a a a a a a a a a large rectangular lot which was was maintained by their members until 1943 when its care was was transferred Historically interment within the the city was frowned upon by the the the public because of health concerns yet this hill was located just outside city limits Notably all the the the the cemeteries in

the the the area are are developed in
