Operate on a need to know basis.
The best way to decide on which information you can and cannot disclose about a person, ask yourself if the person has a genuine need to know. If the answer is no then you should refrain from disclosing the information.
RECORDS AND REPORTING
Where possible, the following information should be documented and provided to Emergency Services personnel during the handover.
• Date, time and location of incident
• Name, DOB and Address
• Next of Kin’s name and contact number
• What occurred (brief description of situation leading to
incident)
• First aid action taken
• Other known health issues (e.g. diabetes or heart issues)
• Medications/Allergies
• Time and contents of the casualty’s last meal/beverage
• Observations/vital signs (pulse, breathing rate, pupil size)
• First Aiders name and contact number
