How much
further,
Joseph?
We’re
almost
there, Mary.
Joseph obeyed God and got married to Mary. One day the Roman
Emperor, Caesar Augustus, proclaimed that everyone had to go to
the land of their ancestors to be censored. Joseph was from the
town of Bethlehem, so he put Mary on a donkey and made the long
journey to Bethlehem. When they got there, Mary was ready to
have the baby, but they could not find any empty rooms in any of the
inns. There was only room in a stable, and that was where they had
v
to stay. A stable is a place where animals live.
Mary gave birth to the baby
right there in the stable,
amongst the cows and horses.
They wrapped Him up in
swaddling clothes, and laid
Him in a manger. They named
Him Jesus, just like the angel
told them to.
