Aunt Prapai,

I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Uncle Vichai.

My mother fondly spoke of Uncle Vichai; praising his kind, gentle, caring

and enduring love for her and family. He never abated his support and

encouragement towards my mother and family. Uncle Vichai is a distinguished

man. His legacy lives through you, Aunt Prapai, his loving children,

grandchildren and family members. Uncle Vichai’s resilient demeanor is

inspiring.

For the next several months, I will dedicate time to attend prayer at Wat

Saddhadhamma, which is close to my house. My mother enjoyed giving

alms, praying and socializing with the monks. I will also dedicate time to

learning how to write, read, and speak Thai, something I had wished I had

not abandoned years ago. During this time, I will share with you short poems

written in Thai.

I have fond memories of spending time with you when you visited us

in the United States and when I visited you in Thailand. These memories

generate loving emotions and happiness.

I will coordinate with my sister in planning a trip to visit you.
