One thing that did happen to me
I never got too use it because our
house caught fire and my
paperwork got burned in it. I
guess it wasn't meant to be. Since
then I have been performing with
lots of different Band different
styles and genres have learned a
lot. I never did learn to read
music .but a lot of the musicians
always ask me how can you play a
song if you don't know it. I tell
every one I just hear it, listen just
take off ill be there ASAP.
while in school band was we
went to Amarillo for a Site
reading contest and went along
because I was a member of the
band, my Band Director Mr. Ward
took me to A small room and he
said for me to wait there, I Did
this other gentlemen walked in I
was sitting down with a trumpet
in my lap. He laid some music
sheet on my stand and ask me to
play the materials. I looked at
him really stun . and I told him
that didn't know how to read the
chicken scratch , I meant the
music . So he call my director he
came in and told I very sorry sir
but he doesn't know how to read
it but he can mock whatever you
play ,he play by ear only.
At Lubbock High school I learned to
play all instruments by messing around
with them with out my Directors
knowledge Mr. Starks as well.
After High School left to join the US
Marines during that time of my life. I
had Japanese girlfriend. Who loved my
music and the way sung so she started
me on learning Japanese and then one
day with out knowing she entered me
in a contest in Tokyo Japan .I came in
Second place but the best of all was
the I performed with Japanese
Symphonic Orchres. ta behind me
while singing Feelings in Japanese.
