THE BECHDEL TEST?
King Princess brought their Girl Violence tour
to Washington DC, delivering an incredible
performance to the 9:30 Club. Their rock
style was on full display and drew a myriad
of costumed listeners to this Halloween
performance. By taking a look at King
Princess’ setlist and crowd work; we can
investigate the
question at hand.
What is the Bechdel test? In 1985, the term
“Bechdel test” was coined by lesbian
cartoonist Alison Bechdel. Motivated by
conversations with friends over standards with Photography: Logan Schooley
movies,
Bechdel thought up a list of criteria to easily decide whether a movie would be
worth the watch.
