Save Ferris
Photograghy and review
by Bernie Walls
After almost30 years since the release of
their debut album(Introducing Save Ferris),
Save Ferris showed exactly why persistence
pays off. The one-time ska outfit has gone
back to its ska roots and longtime fans have
been more than receptive of the change.
The Tampa, Florida show was at The
Orpheum and it provided an intimate show
where fans can get up close and somewhat
personal with the band. Lead singer Monique
Powell has been the one constant force in
Save Ferris and she still has the fire inside to
give the fans a well-deserved show.
In Tampa, the set was mixed with several
songs from the album that started it all, "It
Means Everything" with songs from the latter
"Modified" and "Checkered Past mixed in.
Throughout the show, the dance floor would
shift from singing and absolute appreciation
for the band to the sheer electricity of
skanking and Monique and the band
members were there supporting their fans
with both.
