AN INTRODUCTION TO MAJO PORTILLA’S ARTWORK

Majo Portilla is a Dutch citizen of Hispanic origin currently re-
siding in Dubai. I met her for the first time in November 2019 in

Dubai when she was selected by the Museum of the Americas, of
which I am its Director, to participate in an individual exhibition at
the Alliance Française in that city. The Museum of the Americas
was established in Miami, Florida in 1991.

The artist who has extensive curriculum has been showing for
more than 20 years her artworks at different locations all over the
world. Her works are comprised of figurative and abstract periods.

Although her paintings are spontaneous differing in concept,
style and theme, she is still able to project a restless spirit that is
not detained by time or adversity.

Ms. Portilla is a clear example of tireless artistic work. Each piece
deserves the analysis and thoughtfulness of the observer.
This book pretends to show the world –thanks to digital media–

the works of an artist whose sincerity and devotion to the art and
culture has no limit.
