New ROI+ Requestor Portal
ABT Medical has just released a completely revamped version of its ROI+ Requestor Web Portal, representing the first phase of a total restructuring of our ROI+ platform. The new website has a much more intuitive user interface that minimizes the effort needed to pay for and view requested patient records online. The revised portal accommodates both credit card and ACH payment types.
ABT Medical is the leading ROI company in offering secure online ROI content delivery, with a 95% Requestor participation rate. New clients—both Providers and outsource service bureaus—continue to join us in a commitment to eliminate both mail and fax deliveries, as these methods do not protect the privacy of patients’ medical records.
Did you know?
In the last 12 months, ABT Medical eliminated the need to print or fax over 3,000,000 pages of medical records. One of our large physician clinics achieved a monthly cost savings of $5,000 in paper due to online web delivery versus conventional mail and fax delivery.
Three Big Myths of ROI Outsourcing
Myth 1: ROI outsource companies offer “revenue sharing” that benefits their Provider-clients.

Reality: ROI outsource companies are notorious for making misleading statements to Healthcare Providers regarding revenue sharing. While it sounds like a win-win situation, it almost always involves one of the following scenarios, which favors only the outsource company:
Scenario #1: The Provider assumes the burden and cost of processing all of the non- billable medical records requests, while the outsource company processes the billable (profitable) requests and shares little of the ROI fee revenue with the Provider.
Scenario #2: The Provider is responsible for logging in the ROI requests and capturing all of the patient PHI, which must then be uploaded to the outsource company for invoicing and distribution. Most often, the Provider’s cost for FTE resources is more than the amount of revenue share they receive from the outsource company.
We communicate this negative reality to prospective clients because our operations model enables us to offer them a truly better way to fulfill requests. We and our sister company, NEXT Medical Records, also provide detailed Revenue and Profit reports to our Provider-clients to insure fair and balanced revenue share participation.
Myth 2: ROI outsource companies perform extensive Quality Control (QC) and PHI content review on ROI fulfillments.
Reality: Quality Control and PHI content review are presented as being far more extensive than they really are. Although AHIOS, the ROI outsource industry’s professional organization, promotes a 32-step ROI processing schema, which is espoused by outsource companies, it is not practiced in real-world fulfillment operations.
The largest outsource company in the US says publicly that it performs thorough QC and content review on 10% or less of all requests it processes. Due to the average number of pages generated per request, it would be a daunting task for any service bureau to conduct 100% QC for all fulfillments and remain profitable.
Myth 3: ROI outsource companies deliver PHI digitally/electronically.
Reality: While outsource companies say they perform electronic/digital delivery, they are still heavily dependent on paper. For instance, HealthPort’s CEO states that they deliver approximately 50% of their requests electronically and still print over 650,000 pages of confidential patient health information each day. Moreover, “electronic” delivery may simply mean that an outsource company mails a CD.
Unlike other ROI companies, we at ABT Medical and NEXT deliver over 95% of all PHI, securely, through a Requestor web portal. We are also the only ROI companies that provide request fulfillment and quality audits on-site within a 24-hour window.
