Jimi Tayo Yerokun
Mr. Jimi T Yerokun, one of six children of the late Honorable (Reverend) Simeon Alabi and Mrs. Gertrude Gbadero
Yerokun, was born and raised in the previous Western State of Nigeria.
He completed high school at Government College Ibadan (GCI), there
his academic focus was primarily in science subjects. His very active
participation in sports made him become a star athlete,
representing GCI and the whole of the Western Region of Nigeria in
field jockey and volleyball. Jimi was a member of the
Nigeria National Field Hockey Team attending several camps and
developing many more life-long friendships in addition to those with
several of his classmates at GCI. His family and friends refer to him
as CATO, the nickname by which he is popularly known, which was
coined by one of his high school buddies, With some high school buddies, circa 1972
the late Wole Olujohungbe (Choi), fourth from left in the picture.
Mr. Yerokun moved to the United States in 1975 and studied physics at Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina,
later attending The Georgia Institute of Technology, where he obtained his Masters of Science Degree in Mechanical
Engineering. He then proceeded to embark on an engineering career that has evolved over the
years and taken him to all parts of the United States of America, with official travels around
the world to Canada, places in Europe including Norway,
England and in Asia to China and Japan. Mr. Yerokun
has extensive professional experience in the nuclear
industry encompassing the construction, testing,
operations and statutory regulations of nuclear power reactors.
He began his career in the nuclear industry working as a
Systems Engineer, operating nuclear power plant.
Subsequently, Jimi worked as a Startup and Test Engineer at several nuclear facilities
across the USA testing and transitioning the facilities into operational states. Mr. Yerokun joined the U. S. Nuclear
Regulatory Commission (US NRC) in 1989 and has served in several offices including the Offices of Nuclear Reactor
Regulation and Nuclear Regulatory Research in the USNRC Headquarters in Rockville,
Maryland, Region I Office, King of Prussia, Pennsylvania and Region II Office, Atlanta,
Georgia. The official positions he has held in the agency include Senior Resident
Inspector of Operations at Nuclear Facility, Branch Chief and Division Director. These have
involved him in leadership roles in a critical Federal government agency
culminating in what is considered the pinnacle of his career at the US NRC by being
appointed into the United States Senior Executive Services (SES) in 2010.

Jimi has always been fascinated by mechanics, as a kid, you
would often find him dismantling and repairing toys.
His hobbies include – Tennis, Soccer and one of these days, he
aspires to becoming a volunteer coach for tennis or field hockey.

and order, adherence to regulations, sense, sensibility and
common sense in social interactions.
Mr. Yerokun is married to Cynthia A. Yerokun,
they have three kids,
Dana, Meisee and Filola and
four grandchildren,
Nash, Alexa, Brayden and Lola.
The family resides in Douglasville,
Pennsylvania close to the children and grandchildren.
