                     3 For out of the north a nation comes up A dry land and a desert.
                           against her, 13 Because of the wrath of the LORD
                        Which shall make her land desolate, She shall not be inhabited,
                        And no one shall dwell therein. But she shall be wholly desolate.
                        They shall move, they shall depart, Everyone who goes by Babylon shall
                        Both man and beast. be horrified
                                                               And hiss at all her plagues.
                     4 “In those days and in that time,”
                           says the LORD, 14 “Put yourselves in array against
                       “The children of Israel shall come, Babylon all around,
                        They and the children of Judah together;  All you who bend the bow;
                        With continual weeping they shall come, Shoot at her, spare no arrows,
                        And seek the LORD their God. For she has sinned against the LORD.
                     5  They shall ask the way to Zion,     15  Shout against her all around;
                        With their faces toward it, saying, She has given her hand,
                        ‘Come and let us join ourselves Her foundations have fallen,
                           to the LORD                         Her walls are thrown down;
                        In a perpetual covenant For it is the vengeance of the LORD.
                        That will not be forgotten.’ Take vengeance on her.
                                                               As she has done, so do to her.
                     6 “My people have been lost sheep. 16
                        Their shepherds have led them astray; Cut off the sower from Babylon,

                                                               For fear of the oppressing sword
                        They have gone from mountain to hill; Everyone shall turn to his own people,
                        They have forgotten their resting place.
                     7 All who found them have devoured them; And everyone shall flee to his own land.
                        And their adversaries said, ‘We have  17  “Israel is like scattered sheep;
                           not offended, The lions have driven him away.
