                   NOVEMBER 8
                        Do not harden your hearts as in the years? Was it not with those who sinned,
                                                                                       18
                           rebellion.” whose corpses fell in the wilderness? And to
                                                          whom did He swear that they would not enter
                                                                                          19
                     16 For who, having heard, rebelled? Indeed, His rest, but to those who did not obey? So
                   was it not all who came out of Egypt, led by we see that they could not enter in because of
                   Moses? Now with whom was He angry forty unbelief.

                          DAY 7:What are the central warnings for believers in the Book of Hebrews?
                         Beyond its value as a doctrinal treatise, this book is intensely practical in its application to
                      everyday living. The writer himself even refers to his letter as a “word of exhortation” (13:22).
                      Exhortations designed to stir the readers into action are found throughout the text. Those exhor-
                      tations are given in the form of 6 warnings:
                         1.Warning against drifting from “the things we have heard”(2:1–4)
                         2.Warning against disbelieving the “voice”of God (3:7–14)
                         3.Warning against degenerating from “the elementary principles of Christ”(5:11–6:20)
                         4.Warning against despising “the knowledge of the truth”(10:26–39)
                         5.Warning against devaluing “the grace of God”(12:15–17)
                         6.Warning against departing from Him “who speaks”(12:25–29)
                         For example,when the writer warns of the danger of drifting (2:1),he uses some vivid nautical
                      terms. The phrase “earnest heed” refers to mooring a ship by securing it to a dock. The second
                      phrase “drift away” was often used of a ship that had been allowed to drift past the harbor. The
                      warning is to secure oneself to the truth of the gospel in such a way as to not pass by the only har-
                      bor of salvation. The alternate tendency toward apathy points to those who make a shipwreck of
                      their lives.

                                                            7 Doom has come to you, you who dwell
                                                                 in the land;
                          November 8 The time has come,
                                                               A day of trouble is near,
                                                               And not of rejoicing in the mountains.
                   Ezekiel 7:1–8:18 8 Now upon you I will soon pour out
                      Moreover the word of the LORD came to My fury,
                                2
                   7 me, saying,  “And you, son of man, thus   And spend My anger upon you;

                     3 Now the end has come upon you,
                        And I will send My anger against you; 9 ‘My eye will not spare,
                        I will judge you according to your     Nor will I have pity;

                        Nor will I have pity; Then you shall know that I am the
                        But I will repay your ways, LORD who strikes.
                        And your abominations will be in your 10 ‘Behold, the day!

                        Then you shall know that I am the      Doom has gone out;
                           LORD!’                              The rod has blossomed,
                                                               Pride has budded.
                     5 “Thus says the Lord GOD:
                                                           11 Violence has risen up into a rod of
                        ‘A disaster, a singular disaster;        wickedness;
                        Behold, it has come! None of them shall remain,
                     6 An end has come, None of their multitude,
                        The end has come;                      None of them;
                        It has dawned for you; Nor shall there be wailing for them.
                        Behold, it has come! 12 The time has come,
