                          September 15
                                                           21:9 Babylon is fallen, is fallen! The watch-

                                                           Babylon, which initially fell to the Assyrians in

                                                           mate fall of the great enemy of God,as verified
                        As whirlwinds in the South pass by John’s citation of this verse in Revelation
                           through,                        14:8; 18:2 (Jer. 50:2; 51:8,49).
                        So it comes from the desert, from a
                           terrible land.
                     2
                        A distressing vision is declared to me; The God of Israel,
                        The treacherous dealer deals I have declared to you.
                           treacherously,
                        And the plunderer plunders. 11 The burden against Dumah.
                        Go up, O Elam! He calls to me out of Seir,
                        Besiege, O Media! “Watchman, what of the night?
                        All its sighing I have made to cease.
                                                               Watchman, what of the night?”
                     3 Therefore my loins are filled with pain; 12 The watchman said,
                        Pangs have taken hold of me, like the “The morning comes, and also the night.
                           pangs of a woman in labor.          If you will inquire, inquire;
                        I was distressed when I heard it; Return! Come back!”
                        I was dismayed when I saw it.
                                                            13 The burden against Arabia.
                        My heart wavered, fearfulness
                     4
                           frightened me; In the forest in Arabia you will lodge,
                        The night for which I longed He O you traveling companies of

                        Prepare the table, O inhabitants of the land of Tema,
                        Set a watchman in the tower,           Bring water to him who is thirsty;
                        Eat and drink. With their bread they met him who fled.
                        Arise, you princes, 15 For they fled from the swords, from

                                                               From the bent bow, and from the

                        Let him declare what he sees.” 16 For thus the LORD has said to me: “Within
