which will be installed at the height of the building penthouse to
the reuse of individual bricks.
During the presentation and tour key sustainable strategies were
identified and explained. These included the storm water cistern
which captures water for use in irrigation and the flushing of
toilets; radiant ceiling panels which use water-filled piping to cool
and heat the interior; and an innovative delivery of electricity
directly from the PV array to both the employees’ work stations
and the ceiling light fixtures. The most innovative strategy is the
CREW DC EDUCATION redirection of flows from a 19th century city sewer pipe to a
heat exchanger. This process resembles a geothermal system and

headquarters. AGU is the largest member science organization
in the world. Their scientists study climate change and this
motivated AGU to set a goal to renovate the existing building to
net zero energy. CREW DC members Greta Perry of MGAC,
Kodi Coe of Skanska, and Holly Lennihan of Hickok Cole
provided a project overview and the design parameters. The

building through innovative technologies, reusing as much of
