RULES
1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 The preservation of the South African pig population’s health is one of the South
African Pork Producers Organisation’s prime priorities. The proactive establishment
of proper and effective biosecurity and other informative and preventative measures
to mitigate the risk of the outbreak and spread of notifiable diseases, and the timely
and effective assistance to persons and/or entities that own, control or are part of any
process that involve the South African pig population or any part thereof, in the
management and eradication thereof in the event of an outbreak, is crucial.
1.2 The South African Pork Producer’s Organisation has established a fund to enable it
to take appropriate measures, supplementary to the notifiable disease control
measures taken by the relevant government departments and government veterinary
services in the event of an outbreak, to assist stakeholders where there is an
outbreak of a notifiable disease.
