Member Registration

The team visited five of the larger producers to assist with registration and
discussed what they would like to see on the WoP. A further five were
contacted and assisted over the phone.

During visits, members provide feedback to improve the registration process
and additional features that they would like to see on the platform. There were
some great ideas that will be considered. Overall, producers find it easy to
register, add business- and farm data and to navigate the business
intelligence pages.

The platform is marketed frequently in the SAPPO newsletters.

Applications

The Passive Surveillance part of the veterinary module will be launched during
the first quarter of 2020. The first phase of testing was done, and some changes
need to be made. Dr Peter Evans, Dr Cilliers Louw and two vets from CSVets
will do the next phase of testing. After the Passive Surveillance part is done,
the Pork 360 audits will be incorporated.

The new BDM app is also in the process of development. The new BDM app
will allow farmers assisted by the BDM’s to also register in the WoP and for
SAPPO to improve the intelligence collected in the BDM programme.

Meat Trade Database

SAPPO is always seeking ways to stimulate exports and gain access to foreign
export markets and ensure that imports adhere to national standards and
international trade agreements. A key requirement for monitoring and
stimulating trade is the availability of reliable trade data. SAPPO identified the
need to create a central repository of meat trade data that will host import
and export data of key meat products and provide access to participating
stakeholders.
