THE BRITISH BURN THE WHITE HOUSE
The Redcoats burn the White House before a storm chases them away.
British forces occupy Washington DC. They set fire to the White House and
other important buildings including the Treasury, The Capitol, and the Library of
Congress. Less than two days after sacking Washington, the British are forced to
leave when a violent hurricane tears through DC. The freak storm extinguishes
fires, kills British troops, and damages many of their ships.
