Without much exaggeration, the only truly novel military arm in the armies of the Hellenistic world
was the war elephant. It did not appear in the armies of the Archaic or Classical Greek city-states. It
belonged to the world of the Far East, to India (or later the continent of Africa), and it is not surprising
that the most enthusiastic copters of this beast were the Seleucids, who had the most immediate
access to them. Seleucus I Nikator kept 500 of them at Apameia. The Seleucids even put the symbol of
the elephant on their coins.
We reviewed in our search several subjects: the first sources of war elephants in the
Hellenistic age ,and the Second how tamed elephants in ancient times, and the thirdly Search in Kings
efforts Seleucids to use elephants in their army, and what are the most famous battles they have
fought this weapon, with a focus on foreign relations and conventions that elephants have entered in
it .
