The size of the sole board is dependent on the bearing pressure of the ground. Bearing pressure
will be supplied to you by an engineer in kg per m².
Finding minimum length of sole board for leg A of a medium duty scaffold, bearing pressure at 2.4
T and a sole board width of 225 mm
Live Load = 300kg Dead Load = 131.5kg
Bearing Pressure = 2.4 Tons Width of Sole Board = 225mm
Total load = LL + DL = 300 + 131.5
On substituting value sin above formula
Length of sole board (LOST) = 80 cm.
