More and more, the legal department has become a reference point and guide to all teams, taking the initiative to train internal stakeholders and make them better equipped to execute. “We train the marketing and sales departments on commercial best practices and understanding contracts. [We] have conducted cross departmental training on employment liability, health and safety issues, proceeds of crime act and consumer protection legislative requirements, to name a few,” Samuels informed.
Their support is quite critical to the business function and is guided by some key considerations in the formulation and execution of any business strategy or process.
These factors include 1: What are the risks, legal and otherwise, with the implementation of such? and 2: What processes, documentation or other security needs to be in place to ensure the company can proceed as it so desires?
