A general feeling abounds in relation- ships that one who not only tells when it’s right, but isn’t afraid to say it’s wrong, is a true friend.
This holds true for the Internal Audit Department (IAD), which does the checks and balances that ensure the company adheres to the highest standards at both local and interna- tional levels.
Like night follows day, there is no escape hatch for this activity as it is a mandatory governance requirement for companies listed on the Stock Exchange, such as Davide Campari Milano.
“Think of us as the organization’s constructive critical friend, someone who can challenge current practice, champion best practice and be a
catalyst for improvement, so that the organisation as a whole achieves its strategic objectives,” noted IAD Manager, Vinessa Cadien-Miller.
She is part of a diverse seven-member team that is based here in Jamaica and Italy. Altogether, they span three nationalities and share six different languages – English, Italian, Spanish, French, Russian and Czech.
