Alberto Bailleres Classic: Garañones Futurity Consolation
DK PLATINUM
by Luis Prieto Zamudio, translation by Speedhorse
Agroup of 9 runners vied for the $399,321 pesos prize assigned to the consola-
tion race (approx. $19,155), with a 300-yard course. The qualifier Papifire Cartel was not entered in the race.
This was another competition where everyone played fairly from the start to the finish line,
a journey in which the filly Divas First Anita exercised her mastery, but in the final yards she was displaced to second place by the gelding DK Platinum under the command of José Angel Ambrosio Medina, who overcame his main rival by 1/2-lengths. To do this, it took :15.01 (SI 97).
Danny Cartel’s son out of Platinum Cash (by Separatist) remains undefeated in 2 outings at the track, now adding $199,660 pesos (about $9,578) to his earnings account.
Bred by Cuadra La Presita in the State of Sinaloa, he is owned by the Cuadra Baldeli, trained by José Guadalupe García “Lupillo”,
and saddled by Ismael Ayala Salas. He earned
his ranking by winning trial 2 on Oct. 17 in :15.262, being the tenth fastest time among those qualified for this race, a record that improved substantially in the finals described here.
At the 2019 Select Yearling Auction, DK Platinum was listed at $1,050,000 pesos (approxi- mately $51,996), the fourth highest figure in the event.
Second place went to
the filly Divas First Anita
(Divas First Down–Julies Lil
Jess, by Mr Jess Perry) under
the direction of Rogelio Sáenz. She was bred by Arturo Olvera Bernal, and her Cuadra Zamarrero was founded by Gregorio Alberto Razo Parra.
The third place spot was taken by Sea Crisp (Sea Horse Corona-Crisp, by No Secrets Here) under the command of Israel Dominguez Morales, for The Cuadra H-R. She is the breeding of Salomé Gallegos and is trained by Ismael Ayala Salas.
Followed by RG Valentine Corona (Swingin Corona–Crystal Dancer TB), SE Loki (Jabulani–Oceanica), Bliss Horse (Sea Horse Corona–Oceans Of Bliss), Loncho Tolk DK (Danny Cartel–Shes A Toll), AG Barajo De Oro (Keep The Strawflying–Time Dasher) & La Aldamita (Sea Horse Corona–Perridosa).
