INTERNATIONAL MILLIONAIRE
An event that formally began on April 21, 2020, with the nomination of 124 horses and continued on June 20 with the entry of 107 runners, came to an end on Dec. 1 when the final and consolation races were held over distances of 300 yards.
The COVID-19 pandemic forced the resched- uling of the start date from Aug. 1-2 to Sept. 3-4, when the trials were held; which meant that the date of the semi-final was moved to Oct. 17 and the final to Dec. 1.
Despite this and the limitations imposed by the pandemic, the event went ahead under the organization of Satevó Race Track and with the support and understanding of the participat- ing stables. Thus, it ended up being the most important event in the equestrian history of the country by gathering the best equine athletes of the moment in a full competitive maturity field.
The purse distributed, by way of registra- tion fees for the six finalists and the win- ner of the consolation prize, was $963,000;
additionally, $701,100 was distributed among the first, second and third place winners for the “Calcutta,” to form a total purse of $1,664,100.
The winners were C You Soon, aka The Clown, making good the prediction to win the main event and the maturity prize; also Outta Sight, aka The Italian, who dominated in the six- horse field that was contested in the consolation.
A report of each race follows.
The triumph of this sorrel gelding is the culmination of a brilliant career that was forged by being enrolled in this maturity. Although he already had experience
on racetracks in the United States and in match races in Mexico, this maturity demonstrated his skills on the track, as was noted in the Nov. 2020 issue of Speedhorse on page 164.
C You Soon was the strong favorite due to his dominance over his rivals in the trial races. And although the finals were a little more demanding because he was late from his starting position,
he won by a determined 3/4-lengths over the second place horse Litely Political, aka The Empress, the only female finalist.
C You Soon, better known as The Clown due to his wide facial markings, was led by his jockey Noel Jesús Hernández Castro, who had to urge
his mount in the stretch until they took the lead from the aforementioned Litely Political.
The sorrel gelding is owned by Cuadra San Rafael, who entered two horses (C You Soon and
Bet The Cartel) making
an alliance with Cuadra
La Morita, located in the State of Sinaloa, so there is a shared benefit between these two teams since the training of both is by Héctor Martín López.
At four, C You Soon is

purchased by Jose Rodriguez for $8,500 at the Heritage Place Fall Mixed Sale on Nov. 2-3,
2018, for Cuadra San Rafael, located in Jalisco, Mexico.
For this victory, his team received $972,270, consist- ing of $481,500 for registra- tion fees and $490,770 for the “Calcutta.” These are undoubtedly record purses in the history of horse racing in Mexico.
In a great race, second place went to Litely Political, a 6-year-old bay mare that
is owned by Rancho El Suspiro, from Chiapas.
