Economic Injury Disaster Loans For Breeding Farms
The Small Business Administration (SBA) reopened applications for the Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL)-COVID-19 assistance pro- gram. Farms with less than 500 employees whose main business is breeding horses and which
have incurred economic hardship as a result of COVID-19 may now apply for these loans.
Jud Little Dispersal Sale
Jud Little, who passed away on March 25, founded the Jud Little Bar Nothin Ranch in 1976, producing countless rodeo, racing and roping competitors, including AQHA World Champion, NFR Qualifier and Barrel Report Champion 4-Year-Old Stallion JL Dash Ta Heaven, who will be offered for sale along with around 150 stallions, mares and horses of all ages at the Jud Little Ranch LLC Complete Dispersal Sale to be held May 16. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the auction will be held online through www.superiorlivestock. com. Bidders are welcome to attend the sale in Springer, Oklahoma.
2020 Kinder Cup Sale
The 2020 Kinder Cup Barrel Horse & Prospect Sale was held on Saturday, Feb. 1
in Kinder, Louisiana. 38 horses sold with an average of $8,100. The top seller was Hip #22 Separatist Rocks On (Fire Water Flit-Panchos Jr Kitty, Separatist) selling for $30,000. The colt was consigned by Queiva Richardson and purchased by Keith Moran. Total revenue was $289,000 for the 2020 Kinder Cup Barrel Horse & Prospect Sale.
Second Career for MacGyver Moonflash’s
Heritage Place Sale graduate MacGyver Moonflash (First Moonflash-Touched By
The Moon) clocked a 13.14 second run at the Royal City Roundup under Wendy Johnson on Feb. 28 in Kansas City, Missouri. The duo also won their final round pool at the 2020 WCRA Winter Timed Event Semi-Finals, earning an invite to the Houston Rodeo. MacGyver Moonflash was purchased at the 2017 Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale for $6,000. Consigned by Tom Scheckel, the 2013 gelding was bred by Ivy Lane Racing in Ontario. On the track, MacGyver Moonflash won one of seven starts with $14,409 in earnings and was a finalist in the Canterbury Championship Challenge and Altoona Derby.
Ex-Racehorse Teams Up With High School Freshman
Ex-racehorse DM Legacy (Carters Cartel- Dashing Millie) has moved to a new barrel career, teaming teamed up with high school freshman Rylea Ryan. Affectionately known as “Lego”, the gelding and Rylea, who is the granddaughter of Los Alamitos-based trainer
of over $20 million Charles Treece, have found success competing in the Lunde Enterprises Barrel Race series. DM Legacy won one race from three starts during his career on the track for trainer Patricia Visscher and owners/breed- ers Edward and Theresa DeNike.
Ex-Racehorse Goes to NFR
KR Famous Tequilla (Dash Ta Fame- Tequikillya) raced for owner/breeder Sally Kid for seven of his 10 starts, and then was claimed by James Taylor for his remaining starts. After retiring from the track, the 9-year-old horse went on to become a successful barrel horse, carrying current owner Jennifer Epps-Sharp all the way to the 2019 NFR and the team is look- ing for a repeat performance in 2020.
Successful Second Careers
Indy Breeze (Indy Charger-Vegas Casino Lady) is an ex-racehorse, trail horse, barrel horse and babysitter. Owned by Brian and Terri Langworthy, the 16-year-old gelding made three starts on the track with one second place finish before moving to the barrel pattern where he earned his AQHA open performance ROM, 2017 National Barrel Horse Association state finals open and senior reserve Champion, 2016 NBHA state finals fastest time of the weekend and 2012 NBHA state finals senior champion. In 2019, Indy Breeze, aka Patches, and Terri were top 10 in both of their barrel classics at the All American Quarter Horse Congress. The family also has second-career runner Busy Leaving Memorys (Indy Charger- She Runs Like A Deer), who placed twice from made four starts on the track. “Fancy” earned a bronze trophy in the amateur barrel racing at the 2019 Lucas Oil AQHA World Show.

RFD-TV’s The American awarded athletes total prizes of over $2.4 million, including their share
of the $1 million sidepot – the richest weekend in western sports held March 7-8 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The top earners included Kaycee Field in Bareback Riding, Stevi Hillman in Barrel Racing, Kaycee Hollingback in Breakaway Roping, Sage Kimzey in Bull Riding, Wyatt Casper in Saddle Bronc Riding, Matt Reeves in Steer Wrestling, Luke Brown & Joseph Harrison in Team Roping, and Shad Mayfield in Tie-Down Roping.
WCRA Pays Out More Than $394,000
More than $394,000 was paid to timed- event athletes at the World Champions Rodeo Alliance Winter Timed Event Semi Finals at Lazy E Arena Jan. 7-9 in Guthrie, Oklahoma. The event hosted 320 competitors, advancing 54 athletes to the Royal City Roundup on Feb. 28-29. Wenda Johnson clocked the fastest time in barrel racing with a 16.7 second run.
WRCA Cancels Stampede at Lazy E
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the World Champions Rodeo Alliance (WRCA) canceled all events and functions associated with the May 12-16 Stampede, “Oklahoma’s Richest Rodeo”, at Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, Oklahoma. As of press time, the WCRA
is still taking nominations for the $1.25 Million Days of 47 Cowboy Games and Rodeo, scheduled for July 21-25 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
PBR & WCRA Announce Inaugural Women’s Rodeo World Championship
The Professional Bull Riders (PBR) and World Champions Rodeo Alliance (WCRA) on March 4 announced the inaugural Women’s Rodeo World Championship to be held Nov. 3-7 during the PBR World Finals in Las Vegas, Nevada. The new Women’s Rodeo World Championship will award
a minimum of $750,000 and will name Champions in the disciplines of barrel rac- ing, breakaway roping, and team roping, as well as an All-Around Champion. “Working with our partners at PBR to provide female rodeo athletes an opportunity like this is
a game changer,” said WCRA CEO, Gary McKinney. “This historic addition of Women’s Rodeo World Championship to the WCRA 2020 tour will give female ropers and barrel racers more opportunities,including the ability to compete for big-money pay- outs.” Visit wcrarodeo.com for more infor- mation as it becomes available.

Leading barrel sire Alive N Firen,
aka Trigger, died 27 years to the day that
he was born at the age of 27 on April 14. Alive N Firen (Fire Water Flit-Whichwitch S Witch, Bugs Alive In 75) won or placed
in WPRA rodeos and went on to sire multiple barrel racing Champions. His top earner is WPRA Champion Yeah Hes Firen ($526,230), aka Duke, ridden and owned by Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi.
