FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Dear Members,
The Annual Meeting was held by Zoom
on January 28, 2021. We had about 50 people attend the meeting and 158 (154 by Mail-In Ballot) members voted for our Board of Trust- ees. Mark your calendar for Thursday, January 27, 2022 to attend the next Annual Meeting in Albuquerque. The location will be announced at a later date.
The Trustees worked very hard to find ways to cut expenses during the pandemic. Through their efforts we were able to come in under budget by $67,000 in 2020. Thanks to Jay L. Taylor for delivering the Annual Report and also for helping with the Association budget and investments.
We are currently tracking several bills that have been introduced during the 2021 New Mexico Legislative session and that concern our industry. Please know that we are staying on top of things the best we can. By the time you get this digital magazine, the legislature may have convened for the year and all will have been decided. We will try to get information out to everyone through our newsletter and mass emails. Check your spam and junk folders for our emails. It has come to our attention that some of you are missing out on the reminders and other important information we are send- ing out. We also have quite a few members who we do not have an email address for. If you are not sure or have changed your email address, please give us a call so we can get you updated.
I would like to thank all the stallion owners who donated breedings to our stallion auction as well those who purchased those breedings. This was our first online auction through
our website, and we are very pleased with the results. We learned a lot from this first time around and plan to continue using the website auction in the future.
We hope to have our awards ceremony during the summer party at Ruidoso Downs on Zia Festival weekend towards the end of July. That is as long as we can go back to large gatherings again by then. If so, everyone is invited, and I look forward to seeing you all again in person.
Sincerely,
Mary M. Barber Executive Director
