AQHRA Sale Results
The 2020 Alberta Quarter Horse Racing Association Canada Cup & Yearling & Mixed Sale was held at Westerner Park in Red Deere, Alberta, on Sept. 18. The $14,000 high seller was Hip #21, O Tuxedo (First Timber-Burners Beauty, El Rey Burner), a 2019 black gelding consigned by Wesley Oulton
and purchased by Preston Crow Chief. O Tuxedo is a sibling to four stakes horses and is by the sire of $1.5 million in earners. The second highest seller at $9,500 was Hip #6, Obsessed Bug (Obsessed With Corona-Paulina Bug, Shazoom), a 2019 bay filly consigned by Ralph Danard and purchased by Travis Reay, whose 1st-4th dams are all stakes winners and/ or stakes winner producers.
Free Thought Extends Consecutive Wins Record
Free Thought (Stel Corona-Just Think, Pritzi Dash),
the current world record holder for consecutive wins, extended his streak to 18 in his first start of 2020 with
a victory in the Evergreen Park Distance Stakes on Aug. 15. The 2011 gelding began racing as a two-year-old and has now won 28 of 50 starts, and has been in the money in 44 of those races. His win record began in 2017 with a wire-to-wire allowance victory at Lethbridge. Free Thought was bred by Edward C. Allred, is owned by Charles G. Stojan, and conditioned by Willam H. Leech.
Carneros Sets World Record
The AQHA has confirmed that Carneros si 113 (Prospect To The Top-Cakebread And Thou, Valiant Hero) set a New World Record for 110-yards in an allowance at Ajax Downs on June 16, 2019. The 2015
