Lovely Cuvee notched her first stakes victory in the $25,432 AQHA Evergreen Park Distaff
Challenge on July 26.
Ridden by J. Botello, the 3-year-old
filly broke in fourth from the 3-post. She steadily gained ground, beating First Prize Cruise by 1/2-length.
Lovely Cuvee completed the 400 yards in :20.622, which was good for an 84 speed index.
The bay filly brought home the $12,716 winner’s share of the purse for owner Beckham Ranch and trainer Allen Goodsell, boosting her total lifetime earnings to $29,967. The filly was also a finalist in the
2019 Black Gold 440 Championship Futurity at Will Rogers Downs.
Gentry Farms bred Lovely Cuvee out of Mildred N Vessels Memorial Handicap-G1 winner Fovee, who is a half-sister to King Rick Rack Stakes winner Funny Munny and Los Alamitos Super Derby-G1 runner- up Scatmandu. Fovee also won the Los Alamitos Distaff Challenge-G3. She has produced nine winners from 10 starters, including stakes placed Recognize, who was second in the Firecracker Futurity-G2, and Sweet 16, who was a runner-up in the Indiana Grand Classic. Lovely Cuvee is her first stakes winner.
First Prize Cruise (First Prize Doc- Eye Cruise) and Martin Ortiz came in second for owner/trainer Tom Kenway. The filly finished third in last year’s Evergreen Park Distaff Challenge.
Getit Hot (Walk Thru Fire-Getit Together) finished in third under Richard Moreno for owner Charles Stojan and trainer William Leech. The filly won last year’s Evergreen Park Derby Challenge and All Canadian Derby.
Atomic Blondie (Birdzilla TB-Sables Val), Knotty Knita (First Timber-Ima Jess A Streaker) and Papas Coleen (First Timber-Cash In This Lane) completed the order of finish.
