From just six crops to race, Favorite Cartel has sired 942 AQHA & APHA race age foals, 667 starters, 399 winners with total AQHA and APHA progeny earnings of $22,315,912. Lotta Blues Man is Favorite Cartel’s top earner with earnings of $935,399 and wins in the 2016 Golden State Million Futurity-G1 and the Town Policy Stakes in 2017. The filly Fernweh, by Favorite Cartel, won the 2019 Ruidoso Futurity-G1 and the 2020 Remington Park Oklahoma Bred Derby-RG2 and amassed earnings of $558,611. His most notable APHA runner is 2017 Champion 2-Year-Old Colt Im The Captain Now, who has earnings of $25,848. Beside this Paint Champion, Favorite Cartel is also the sire of Quarter Horse Champions Cartel Jess Rockin and Tarzanito.
As 2020 nears to an end, Favorite Cartel holds numerous leading sire rankings. He is the leading sire of Graded stakes winners with 18, more than double the next sire on this list. He is the leading sire of 2020 money earners, the leading sire of stakes winners with 25,
the leading sire of winners with 145, and the leading sire of wins with 232. And he is the sire of the leading 2020 colt in Tell Cartel,
a three year old with $621,751 banked this year with wins in the Los Alamitos Super Derby-G1, Los Alamitos Winter Derby-G1 and El Primero Del Ano Derby-G3.
In 2020, Favorite Cartel has sired stakes winners at Arapahoe Park in
Colorado, Evangeline Downs and Louisiana Downs in Louisiana, Grants Pass Downs in Oregon, Los Alamitos
in California, Remington Park in Oklahoma, Ruidoso Downs and The Downs at Albuquerque in New Mexico and at Wyoming Downs, as well as at the Hipodromo de las Americas in Mexico.
Favorite Cartel sired the first, second and third place finishers in the 2020 Grade 1 Los Alamitos Winter Derby, the 2020 Grade 2 Golden State Derby and the 2020 California Breeders’ Freshman Stakes. Favorite Cartel is also the 2020 leading sire of money earners at Arapahoe Park, Los Alamitos and Wyoming Downs.
Horses sired by Favorite Cartel were also among the leaders at the 2020 sales. At the Los Alamitos Equine Sale, Favorite Cartel sired
the top 3 high sellers in $110,000 co-high sellers Glass Ceiling and Cleared To Fly, and second highest-seller Nationally Ranked. At the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale, Favorite Cartel sired the second highest seller, Absolute Favorite, at $265,000. Favorite Cartel is the sire of 63 yearlings sold at auction in 2020, with an average sale price of $55,143.
This all adds up to a fairy tale story for Favorite Cartel, who lived up to his reputation and rewarded those who had faith in him with some of the industry’s best of the best. And Favorite Cartel’s story is far from over, as the 13-year-old stallion has many more years of siring Champions ahead of him.
