The Championship at Sunland Park-G1
INSTYGATOR
by Danny Camp
Instygator has run 12 races in his lifetime and he has finished first, second or third in all
of them. And, he has won eight of those races
against some of the fastest horses in the business. His latest win was in The Championship at Sunland Park, a Grade 1 event at 440-yards hosted by Sunland Park on Jan. 2 that carried a total purse worth $350,000.
The 4-year-old brown gelding stepped away from the number four post carrying Juan Pulido. They broke in second behind Empressum, but within a couple of strides they took command.
At the first call they were a half length to the good and they finished a neck in front, stopping the clock at :21.313.
The gelded son of Ivory James earned a 105 speed index and a first place check worth $182,000. That ups his lifetime earnings to $1,450,239. His team includes owner Barboza Racing Corp. and trainer Santos Carrizales Jr.
