2022: a Good Year to Race a Paint
Paint racing fans asked for more racing opportunities, and APHA delivered with two new events to add to your race calendar.
• The APHA 79 & Under Speed Index Futurity,
sponsored by Builders Unlimited, Inc., offers two-year-olds a chance to race 330 yards for $10,000 added by APHA with an estimated purse of $25,000 at Fair Meadows in Tulsa, Okla.
Nominate by May 20 for $500; then pay $250 at time of entry. Trials run on June 4, followed by the finals on June 18.
• The Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Juvenile, a race for two year olds at 350 yards and a purse of $20,000, will be held on the same day as
the Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Futurity finals in July at Fair Meadows in Tulsa, Okla. The Juvenile field will consist of the 11th to 20th-place horses from the Futurity trials.
Nominations for the estimated $100,000 Futurity are due Feb. 1. The $1,500 entry
fee consists of five $300 payments. The late supplement at time of entry is $3,000 plus all payments. Download race forms and conditions at speedhorse.com.
Stay tuned to these pages and apha.com/ racing for more information on both events.
Running for a Year-End Award?
This annual fee—$25 before March 1 and $100 after that date—is assessed to all recorded owners of APHA race starters. Owners of multiple horses only pay once if all the horses
are owned under the same membership number. Non-payment doesn’t impact a horse’s race record as records are kept on all horses; however, a horse is only eligible for an award if the fee is paid.
Renew your membership online at apha. myshowday.com or visit apha.com/racing to pay the fee today.
