Speedhorse would like to express our condolences to Bill & Deb Myers and to everyone who followed and loved Frenchmans Guy
by Emily Blankenship
Bred by James and Frances Loiseau, Frenchmans Guy (Sun Frost-Frenchman’s Lady, Laughing Boy), aka Guy, passed away at the age of 34 on August 15, 2021. Bill and Deb Myers purchased Guy as a weanling after al- ready owning a few of his siblings. Their original plan was to geld him and turn him into a ranch horse, but fate stepped in and after an unfortunate farm accident incident, Guy lost his right eye. The family put him out to pasture for a couple years and then decided to reevaluate. They decided with one eye, they would keep him a stallion and use him for breeding and riding. Frenchmans Guy went on to become very successful in barrel futurities and derbies, and in the PRCA and amateur rodeo circuit. Deb qualified him for the PRCA Badlands Circuit Finals and won Reserve Champion title at the Northwest Rodeo Cowboys Association. He was named the Future Fortunes Stallion of the Year in 2019.

Frenchmans Guy was featured on the cover of the 2014 Speedhorse Barrel Stallion Register, and at the time, Bill said, “Whenever I think about it, it’s pretty overwhelming. Every broodmare we own, we owe to him. He got us financially stable with the money he generated.
Then, you think about all the horses that he’s sired and what they’ve done – it’s just overwhelming. We’re very thankful. He stood the test of time. Every once in a while, you have
to stop and pinch yourself. It’s like a fairytale.”
Frenchmans Guy is an all-time leading sire of barrel horses with over $10.9 million in earners. His total progeny earnings are more than $14 million and include one race
winner. He is the sire of AQHA World Cham- pions Dark French Honey and Guys Dashing Jet, and is a leading broodmare sire of horses such as Epic Guy and Freckles Ta Fame. The offspring of Frenchmans Guy continue to win and break records all over the world, while his sons and daughters are climbing the charts as top sires and producers.
