nother Idaho-bred succeeded in a Los Alamitos
stakes race on Feb. 26, when Jet Wings One captured the $35,000 Denim N Diamonds Handicap-RG3. She followed Idaho-bred Scoops Dynasty, who had won the Los Alamitos Winter Derby-G1 one week earlier.
With Armando Cervantes in the irons for trainer Monty Arrossa, the same combination that col- laborated on Scoops Dynasty, Jet Wings One broke fifth but immediately grabbed the lead. She tussled with Go To Girl on her inside, defeating that rival by 1/2-length in :17.595 for 350 yards.
Dan Moon owns and bred Jet Wings One. The 4-year-old filly last year took the Adequan Los Alamitos Derby Challenge. She finished second in the 2021 Independence Day Handicap-G3 and 2020 Robert Adair Kindergarten Futurity-G2 and third in the 2021 Sgt Pepper Feature Handicap.
Moon bred Jet Wings One from his homebred stakes winner Wayward Wings, who has produced two starters, including stakes-placed Unique Ways.
Dr. Steve Burns’ homebred Go To Girl (Favorite Cartel-Remember Me Rose) finished second under jockey Oscar Peinado for trainer Mike Casselman. The 4-year-old filly won the 2021 Chiquitas Stakes.
Gentry Farms’ homebred Kiss Thru Fire (Walk Thru Fire-Fredaville), the 2021 Denim N Diamonds winner, finished third under Diego Herrera for trainer Juan Aleman. Kiss Thru Fire, the 2021 Champion Aged Mare, was coming off a victory in the Charger Bar Handicap-G1.
Roving Kind (Kiddy Up-Escape The Fire), Up For You (Favorite Cartel-Up For It), More Than Looks (Favorite Cartel-Look Her Over), Elphaba (Kiss My Hocks-Witchs Streak), College Scandal (Coronas Leaving You-Fovee), Astranomical (Dominyun-Quick Moon Sign), and Cotton Cartel (Special Cartel- Cotton Belle TB) completed the order of finish.
