Planning on Double-Registering Your Horse? Read This First!
If you plan to race, remember that ALL double-registered horses must have the same name at APHA and AQHA. When registering your American Paint Horse—and if it will be registered with AQHA as well—make sure
you select a name that is acceptable to both registries. Your horse WILL NOT be allowed to race AT ALL if the names are not the same.
Reminder: Registration Requirements for Stakes Races
Paint Horses must meet the following requirements to be eligible to enter stakes races, effective January 1, 2013:
1. Regular Registry Horses must have at least one APHA-registered parent in the first generation.
2. Solid Paint-bred Horses must have two APHA Regular Registry parents in the first generation or at least one APHA Regular Registry parent in the first generation and at least one Regular Registry parent in the second generation.
3. Horses foaled prior to 2013 must have one APHA Regular Registry parent in the first generation.
