 COWBOYS GUN Z
HWins the 2023 All American Futurity H By Larry Thornton
The 2023 All American Futurity-G1 certainly reaffirms there is no such thing as a sure thing in Quarter Horse racing.
The pre-race talk was about the filly Dark NME who was the odds-on favorite as an undefeated runner to win the race. She had also shown record breaking speed with a New Track Record for 400 yards going :19.028
in the $1,000,000 Rainbow Futurity-G1, a record previously held by World Champion Empressum and set in 2021. But a late bloomer named Cowboys Gun Z became the winner of the 2023 $3,000,000 All American Futurity-G1.
The road to the big win for Cowboys Gun Z has been one filled with great potential but also some trials and tribulations that a good young racehorse must overcome. He was bred by Running C Ranch LLC and sold in Ruidoso Yearling Sale in 2022 by Robicheaux Ranch Inc., Agent for Slash Z Quarter Horses to Joe Dee and Melanie Brooks,
Scott and Jaime Bryant and their West Texas Racing Partners. They paid $125,000, which is an indicator that they saw potential from
Cowboys Gun Z’s winning connections include Agustin Silva, Linda and Mike Joiner, Scott and Jaime Bryant and Joe D. Brooks of West Texas Racing Partners.
