                FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
   Dear Members,
The Incentive Award checks were mailed
out by U.S. Bank on Tuesday, November 15th. The award sheet showing what each place paid in the four categories will be posted on our website and in our newsletter. We did have
to forfeit some awards due to noncompliance with the rule of owners having to be a member within 90 days after their NM Bred horse
ran 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. The office has worked extremely hard to let people know about this requirement by sending letters and membership applications to non- members as well as trying to reach people by phone. We also have this
posted on the overnights and have advertised this in our magazines and newsletters. Please help us to spread the word to new owners.
Congratulations to all the connections
of the New Mexico Cup winners! The total purses for the fifteen races were just over $1.9 million so we are almost back to our pre-covid figures. Hopefully, next year we can get it back to $2 million plus. I really enjoyed visiting with many of our members at our booth and getting to watch the horses run at Zia Park. I took photos of a few of the people I got to visit with up in the Turf Club but there were many more that I missed! The photos are included in this issue.
We are planning to have another online stallion auction soon so keep an eye out for our notices in your email. Stallion Owners and Managers will be contacted soon by
two of our Trustees who have been kind enough to volunteer to reach out for donated breedings. Thank you in advance to those of you who donate.
Our Annual Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, January 26, 2023. The time and place are to be determined and we will get you that information as soon as we can. The Mail In Ballots are being mailed out on the 3rd Monday in December and will be due
back with a postmark of no later than the 3rd Monday in January. You must sign your ballot in the designated area at the bottom of the form. The ballot will have the member’s name printed on it so only that member can use that ballot to vote. If your ballot is not signed or is postmarked after the deadline, it will not be counted. If someone submits their membership after the 3rd Monday in December or misses the deadline to return their ballot, you may vote in person at the Annual meeting. We will not be accepting ballots by email or fax.
I would like to thank Susie Prather for her invitation to visit Doubletree Farm while I was in Hobbs. It was a beautiful day, and I had a wonderful time on my tour of both her farm and her beautiful home. It was great to meet the stallions, mares, and babies and the donkeys, chickens, & the hundreds of catfish in the pond! A few photos from my visit are included in this issue.
Happy Holidays and I hope to see you all at the races!
