Dear members,
As I’m writing this, we’re just days
away from the Breeders Cup taking place at Keeneland Racecourse in Lexington Kentucky.
This year’s event is especially notable as New Mexico’s very own, trainer Todd Fincher, has TWO entries! Senor Buscador, racing for the Peacock family, is entered in the dirt mile after winning the “win and you’re in” Ack Ack mile at Churchill Downs.
Todd also has Slammed, a New Mexico bred daughter of Marking in
the filly and mare dirt Sprint. This remarkable mare won The Thoroughbred Club of America stake at Keeneland by 4+ lengths. This was also a “win and you’re in” race. She was bred by Todd and Brad King and races for Brad, the Coleman’s and Kirby’s.
Win or lose, this is an incredible achievement and we wish them all the best.
Breeding season is almost upon us so it’s time to put the mares under lights, plan the matings, and start those sleepless nights foal watching. I’m probably not alone when I say I can’t wait for it to start and can’t wait until it’s over!
