four-year-old record shows wins in the All American Gold Cup and the Rainbow Silver Cup. He amassed 15 starts in the two years with nine wins, three seconds and two thirds. He earned $654,920 during those two years. He was named the 1983 Champion Three Year Old and the Champion Three-Year-Old Colt. He was the 1984 Champion Aged Horse and the Champion Aged Stallion.
He retired with 25 starts with 17 wins, four seconds and three thirds earning $1,793,718. The sire record for Mr Master Bug shows
259 foals in just 12 crops with 181 starters
that earned 113 ROM with nine stakes winners and nine stakes placed runners.
His foals include Andreas Shadow, winner of the 1992 Firecracker Derby-G3 and the Autumn Leaves Handicap; and Masters
Go Man, winner of the 1991 Blue Ribbon Derby-G2 and the West Texas Maturity-G2. As a broodmare sire, Mr Master Bug sired daughters that produced 194 starters with 130 ROM with three stakes winners and eight stakes placed runners. These foals earned $1,471,970. Dash Over Often is
one of the stakes winners that won the Miss
Princess Handicap-G3. The leading money earner is Paddy Chick, a multiple stakes finalist in races like the Ed Burke Memorial Futurity-G1.
It took three All American finalists before they won this great race. But when they did win, they brought home a second as well. All of these Barnes performers carried the blood of FL Lady Bug, a matriarch of the breed that had a great influence on the All American Futurity. This is especially true when we see Mr Master Bug fulfilling the Barnes’ All American Dream.
Mr Master Bug sired runners such as
Andreas Shadow, shown winning the Mothers Day Stakes. Masters Go Man winning the 1991 Blue Ribbon Derby-G2. Dash Over Often winning the 1994 Miss Princess Handicap.
Dash Thru Traffic Wins The 1992 All American Futurity (440 Yards)
The first three All American Futurity winners we have profiled were bred and raced by their owners to win this great race. Dash Thru Traffic will give us a
different route to the All American Dream as the winner of the 1992 All American Futurity that came through the sale ring to new owners.
Dash Thru Traffic was bred to run in the All American Futurity. His breeder
was the Vessels Stallion Farm. He was
sired by First Down Dash. He was the second consecutive All American Futurity winner sired by First Down Dash and
the second of six horses to win the All American Dream sired by this great stallion. His dam Lady Meter Reader was sired by Beduino TB, and he was the sire of Strawberry Silk, the winner of the 1989 All American Futurity. Lady Meter Reader was an AQHA Dam of Distinction with her Champion sons Dash Thru Traffic and Meter Me Gone, winner of the 1995 All American Derby-G1. The dam of Lady Meter Reader is Chronometer, the dam of the 1973 All American Futurity winner Timeto Thinkrich, also bred and owned by Vessels Stallion Farm.
The Vessels Stallion Farm put Dash Thru Traffic into the 1991 Heritage Place Sale where he was purchased by Charlie and Debbie Therwanger of Lubbock, Texas. They had seen the colt while visiting Vessels Stallion Farm and
Dash Thru Traffic after winning the 1992 All American Futurity with jockey Jacky Martin, trainer Jack Brooks and Wynona Brooks.
