  LINE CALL
Making just her third career start, Margaret V. Bloss’ Line Call rallied to win the November 11 New Mexico Cup Lassie Championship (R) for state-bred 2-year-old fillies.
Line Call covered 6 furlongs in 1:09.20, and her margin of victory was 2 1/4 lengths from Sassy Gal. Duane Sterling rode the chestnut daughter of Chipshot for trainer Nancy Summers.
Line Call was purchased by Bloss from breeder Stephen R. Brown for $20,000 at
last year’s New Mexico-Bred Sale at Ruidoso Downs. The filly’s sire, the Grade 3-placed Chipshot, is a Florida-bred 12-year-old son
of the Jules stallion Peace Rules. Raced in 10 states from 2010-13, Chipshot won four of 30 outs and earned $225,314, and his race resume included a victory in the 2011 Select Stakes at Monmouth Park.
Chipshot has sired two winners from seven starters. The stallion is owned by Don A. and Choya D. Young and stands at Young Farm near Tatum, New Mexico.
Line Call is the first starter foaled by Devons Cat, a winning 9-year-old daughter of the Robyn Dancer stallion Abajo. Her second dam, the winning Devon Lane mare Devons Super Lady, produced 3-time New Mexico- bred stakes winner Mr Mooch, a half brother to Devons Cat.
Line Call’s third dam, the winning Tejano mare mare Set Values, was a half sister to three stakes winners, including Set Records, a seven- time stakes winner in New Mexico from 1993-95.
Line Call was stretching out in distance off of a 2 3/4-length win in a 5 1/2-furlong maiden-special-weight dash at Zia Park on October 6. The filly has won two of three starts and has banked $42,950.
Line Call was sent to post at odds of nearly 8-1 and returned a $17.80 win mutuel. Comic Hot Toddy, the 1-2 favorite, ran third, three lengths behind Line Call, and was followed by Quatro, Athena’s Storm, Destiny Who, and Ragtime Rythm.
Racing for R. Lee Lewis, runner-up Sassy Gal is a homebred daughter of the Bernardini
stallion Marking. The filly has won two of three starts, and the $9,900 runner-up share of the New Mexico Cup Lassie Championship purse pushed her earnings to $27,600.
Comic Hot Toddy races for Helen Nave, who also bred the dark bay or brown Indian Firewater filly. Comic Hot Toddy has banked $78,364 from four outs, and her two wins include a five-length victory in the 5 1/2-fur- long, $134,000 Rio Grande Senorita Futurity (R) at Ruidoso Downs on August 16.

  COUNT THEM AGAIN
Count Them Again extended her win streak with a wire-to-wire, 3 1/2-length victory in the November 11, $50,000 New Mexico Cup Oaks Championship (R) for state-bred 3-year-old fillies at Zia Park.
Prepped by Jaime Fuentes for owners Lola J. Cuellar and Alexandria M. Cuellar, Count Them Again covered 6 furlongs in 1:08.33. Frank Reyes rode the bay filly.
Count Them Again was bred by Jim Volk. Her sire, Premeditation is a 21-year-old son of the Private Terms stallion Afternoon Deelites. Campaigned in six states, including New Mexico, from 2001-03, Premeditation earned $318,000 from 18 races, and he won four stakes, including the 2002 Alysheba Breeders’ Cup Stakes at Lone Star Park, and the ‘03 Winsham Lad Handicap at Sunland Park.
Premeditation has sired seven stakes win- ners and the earners of more than $3.9 million from 75 starters, including multiple stakes winners Mr. Wizard and Beau Wizer.
Count Them Again is the first starter produced by Count Your Cards, an unraced
8-year-old daughter of the Montbrook stallion Royal Orleans. Her second dam, the winning Capote mare Bold Feat, finished third in two listed stakes in California in 1999, including the $100,000 Moccasin Stakes at Hollywood Park. Count Them Again traces back to her
fourth dam, Kazadancoa (FR), a winning Green Dancer mare who foaled three graded stakes winners, including Grade 2 winner Changing Ways.
Count Them Again has won her last three outs, including the 6 1/2-furlong, $100,000 Petticoat Stakes (R) for New Mexico-bred sophomore fillies at Albuquerque Downs on September 12. All told, the filly has won seven of 10 races, and the $29,100 winner’s share of the purse from her fourth career stakes score pushed her earnings to $267,380.
Fritizies Flame, Tutta Terlingua, Graceanne, Tight Fittin Jeans, Delightful Hips, Reception, Laugharoo, and Diabolical Wildcat completed the order of finish.
Fritizies Flame races for Pierre and Leslie Amestoy of Albuquerque, who also bred the
dark bay or brown daughter of Laugh Track and the stakes-winning Chimes Band mare Fritzie’s Chime. The filly has won two of six outs, including last year’s Rio Grande Senorita Futurity (R) at Ruidoso Downs, and she has banked $74,615.
A gray or roan daughter of Stellar Rain, Tutta Terlingua is owned by Yuliana Yanez. The filly has won two of 12 races and has earned $50,607, and her resume includes a third-place run in the Petticoat Stakes.
