Movin On, a New Mexico-bred 5-year-old mare racing for Donnell Echols, defeated open company in the Sept. 7, 7 1/2-furlong Governor’s Handicap for distaffers at Ruidoso Downs.
Prepped by Joel Marr, Movin On defeated Flyin Falynn by a neck in 1:32.33. Casey Chavez rode Movin On, who earned the $12,000 winner’s share of a $20,000 purse.
Movin On is one of 48 winners from 76 starters sired by Indian Firewater, a son of 1998 Santa Anita Derby (G1) winner Indian Charlie. Raced primarily in California from 2009-12, Indian Firewater banked $339,242 from 25 starts, and his three wins included the ‘11 San Fernando Stakes (G2) at Santa Anita Park. Indian Firewater has sired five stakes winners and the earners of more than $2.4 million from five crops, including stakes winners Comic Hot Toddy, Deck Humor, and Kris Who.
Movin On is also one of eight winners from nine starters produced by E Bar Prospect, a winning daughter of the Forty Niner stallion Gold Fever. Movin On is a half-sister to E Bar Way, a son of The Way Home who won the
2011 New Mexico Eddy County Stakes (R) at Zia Park.
Movin On’s second dam, the Be My Guest mare Lady Lodger (GB), won three stakes in ‘96, including the $150,000 Miss America Handicap (G3) at Golden Gate Fields. Her third dam, Eversince, was a winning and stakes-placed daughter of 1975 Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Foolish Pleasure. A 1983 foal, Eversince foaled six winners from nine starters, including Caitano (GB), a half-brother to Lady Lodger won five graded stakes in Germany and Italy from 1997-99.
Movin On has won six of 20 starts and has earned $240,598. The mare’s race record includes a victory in the 2018 Peppers Pride New Mexico Cup Distaff Championship (R) at Zia Park.
Hennessy Express ran third, three-quarters of a length behind Movin On, and was fol- lowed by Last to Blush, Pink Cadillac, and Cityonthenile.
Flyin Falynn is a Kentucky-bred daugh- ter of Tale of the Cat owned by the Estate of Curtis L. Guss. A $37,000 buy at the 2018
Keeneland Association November Breeding Stock sale in Lexington, Kentucky, Flyin Falynn has won four of 33 starts, including last year’s $30,000 First Lady Handicap at Ruidoso Downs, and she has banked $139,174.
A registered New Mexico-bred, Hennessy Express races for Dale F. Taylor Racing LLC, which also bred the 5-year-old Roll Hennessy Roll mare. Hennessy Express has won seven of 25 outs, including four stakes, and she has earned $390,617.
