Shott Gun’s winning connections include jockey Rodrigo Vallejo and trainer Heath Taylor.
That schedule, however, may be less busy now. “It’s not the exact same example, but a horse basically is like a bar of soap,” Taylor said. “Every time you use them hard, that’s one less time you’ve got. They don’t last forever.”
Taylor also noted that having fans back in the venue added much to the atmosphere. “There was a lot of excitement for this race. You could feel it.”
Taylor’s other victories in this race came in 2008 with Stolis Winner and in 2006 with First Carolina.
Aint She Tempting (Tempting Dash- Preslee The First), the overwhelming favorite at 7-10 odds, finished second for Levings Racing, LLC, and Dunn Ranch. Jose Guzman owns Instygator (Ivory James- Eye Popping), who finished third with Ricky Ramirez aboard. Jacobo Mejia is the trainer.
The remaining order of finish was Candy
Blood (Apollitical Blood-Ranch Candy),
