CANDY BLOOD si 108, $276,680
Candy Blood won the 2020 Holiday Handicap wire-to-wire by 3-lengths. He also finished second in the 2021 Los Alamitos Winter Derby-G1 and Remington Park Oklahoma Bred Derby-RG2. The gray gelding was out on the lead from the 5-gate in his All American Derby trial. It was clear sailing for Candy Blood from then on as he and jockey Jesus Ayala sported a length at first call and pulled away for a 1 1/4-length finish. The sixth-fastest qualifier was bred by Rick Sumner, who owns the gelding with Dunn Ranch. Monty Arrossa is the trainer.
FLASH RILEY si 96, $28,970
Flash Riley broke his maiden in his trial to the All American Derby. He competed in five trials duing his freshman season. His first start this year was in the trials to the Rainbow Derby, where he finished fifth and qualified to and finished third in the Rainbow Invitational. In his trial to this one, Flash Riley and jockey Lucas Constantin broke well in second from the 6-hole. They had a 1/2-length lead at first call and a length across the wire for the seventh fastest qualifying time. Flash Riley is bred by Marc and Cole Jungers, who own the gelding with Michelle Jungers and Brad Davies. Marc is also the conditioner.
JETTZ si 101, $445,507
Jettz won three of the trials to three of the Grade 1 stakes he has qualified to: the Ruidoso Futurity, where he finished third in the finals; the All American Futurity, finishing those finals in fourth; and the Ruidoso Derby, coming in third there. He is looking to break that mold, having now won his All American Derby trial as the eighth fastest qualifier. Jettz came out of the 8-gate in second and raced there until the top of the stretch where he overtook his rival and scored the win with a neck to spare. Jettz is bred and owned by Bobby D. Cox. Francisco Calderon was aboard for this trip and Juan Vasquez is the trainer.
SEPARATE SENTENCE si 99, $67,642
Separate Sentence broke his maiden in his last out of 2020 and he came back this year to win his first out of 2021 in the trials to the Ruidoso Derby-G1. In the finals he endured some bumps early in the contest and never raced in contention, finishing a distant ninth. He loaded into the 9-gate for the All American Derby trials under jockey Noe Garcia Jr. He was the first out at the break and he held the lead through the first call. He battled hard to the wire but finished a neck back in second. He clocked in fast enough to make it to the finals as the ninth qualifier. Separate Sentence is bred by Steve D. Burns DVM, owned by Martin Ybarra and trained by John Stinebaugh.
APOLLITICAL REDFLASH si 99, $120,003
Apollitical Redflash is a tough competitor, racing in stakes competition in all but his first out in
a maiden race at Remington Park. He battled a hard-fought race to finish second in the Okla-
homa Derby-G3 by just a head. And he also is a finalist in three additional stakes events. In his All American Derby trial, the gelding was out on the lead from the 9-hole. He held on well, brushing off all challengers, and took the win with a neck to spare. Apollitical Redflash was bred by Rancho El Cabresto Inc. and is owned by Cavenaugh Quarter Horses LLC. Francisco Calderon was aboard for trainer Clinton Crawford.
