Mike Parker paid $77,000 for the fifth- highest selling Quarter Horse, Wahenes Patriot (Hip No. 124). Consigned by Sierra Blanca Equine, agent for Dirk Jones, the gray Jet Black Patriot colt is out of Wahene Kai, an unplaced daughter of the First Down Dash stallion Brookstone Bay. Wahenes Patriot is a half-brother to Chicky Chicky Kai, the winner of last year’s New Mexico Filly & Mare Championship Stakes (R) at Zia Park, and 2019 Sunburst Stakes (RG3) winner Wahene Version.
A total of 137 quarter Horse yearlings sold for a gross sum of $3,537,100, an increase
of 30 percent over the 2021 sale, when 166 Quarter Horses sold for a total of $2,730,000. This year’s average-per-head price of $25,818 marked a 44-percent increase over the 2021 average of $17,961.
John Simmons was the New Mexico-Bred Sale’s leading buyer with one purchase at $130,000. The sale’s leading consigner or agent, MJ Farms of Veguita, New Mexico, drew gross receipts of $1,078,000 from 30 head.

4). The colt is out of Isotope, an 8-year-old daughter of the Valid Appeal stallion Successful Appeal who won the 2018 Thirty Eight Go Go Stakes at Laurel Park in Maryland. His second dam, the winning Congaree mare Anabranch, produced Roiland, a winning full brother to Isotope who ran third in the 2019 Risen Star
